Hello my name is Emma Lee Bettina Rose Skala and I am the owner and founder of Emma Rose Cakes. I have been baking since I was a little girl. My interest really started when I was around ten and I started to make fresh fruit pies. I wanted to turn my mom’s organic farm into a pie bakery. When I was in high school I worked at a bakery as a pastry prep chef. There I learned all about making pastries and the fine art of baking them. From there my interest slowly turned to cakes. Now I mostly make beautiful delicious cakes and the occasional pastry.
I come from an artistic family and I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University where I studied ceramic art. I incorporate my artistic talent into all of my baking. Everything I create in my kitchen I look at as a work of art.
I started my bakery less than a year ago because I noticed a need in Denver: desserts that taste and look good. I also have a passion and talent for baking that I want to share with Denver. My desserts are less sweet and have much more flavor than something you would buy at the supermarket because I use better, fresher ingredients and bake in small batches. I am very health conscious and believe that too much sugar is bad for you so I use less in my baking and more fruits, nuts, dark chocolate, and whipped creams. My cakes retain their wonderful flavor because everything I use is fresh and homemade.
I am developing a menu for people with gluten intolerances so that everyone may enjoy the wonders of dessert made by Emma Rose Cakes. Please ask if you have any food allergies so I can work with you to make the dessert of your dreams.
